The aim of this brief was to get more tourists in and around Lincoln and Lincolnshire but to also get them cycling round it. The app was aimed at cycling enthusiasts, families, more casual riders and even those who might not ride a bike at all on a regular basis.
The design and apps features were user tested and with their feedback and my user centred design approach, the design was able to be refined even further to meet the users needs.
Below is a video presentation of the apps features, design and overall layout.
Users get the option between two different ride choices, length and ride type. Whilst length is obvious, the type is the option between a guided audio tour of the ride with the added option of a personal trainer if wanted and an AR experience where users stop and walk around landmarks, and within AR they find information about where they are.
Landmarks around Lincolnshire act as information centres as each one has its own unique history to learn about via an AR experience or and audio guide as you simply ride past. The user is prompted by their personal trainer when they are nearing a location to stop off.
The other AR element of the app allows user to look for certain kinds of shops around Lincoln through AR they are guided to the nearest store and can see a brief overview, opening times and user reviews.
The apps mascot/personal trainer took inspiration from the characters used on Headspace, I liked the calming and positive look there designs were and wanted to incorporate this into mine to not only create a app mascot to be used but assure them this is their guide to support them in their experience of not only the app but their rides around Lincolnshire.
Both AR elements were created with Adobe After Effects using the 3D tracking tool.
